Bushcraft skills

15th January 2020

This week in Bush Craft the Owls and Jays have been starting to learn about first aid. They talked about what would happen if they had to call 999 and how it is important to always seek help from adults if they are around.

They learnt how to check the area for danger and then safely find out if someone is conscious by asking them if they are ok and tapping their collarbone rather than shaking them (as this would be dangerous if someone had a back injury from a fall etc).

Did you know that if someone has a pacemaker, they would have a pulse, but may not be breathing? The children learned to check this by listening to breathing instead.
